(Cover) – EN Fitness & Wellbeing – They say a family that eats together stays together, but did you know that couples who do chores together have better bedroom lives?

Well new research states just that – couple’s who split the chores are happier, fight less and have better sex lives.

In this day and age, both men and women work and share responsibility for bringing home an income. This means that the woman, who would traditionally do the lion’s share of household chores, now has the same amount of free time as her partner when it comes to keeping the house tidy, so it therefore makes sense that the chores are split between them.

For the study, researchers from three universities looked at how more than 600 couples divided up their house tasks and how satisfied they were in their relationships and sex lives.

They found that women who felt washing the dishes fell to them were most likely to be unhappy with their other half, though researchers didn’t ask why the dishes ranked among the worst chores.

Study authors hinted that changes in gender roles have helped to create a more equal dynamic at home.

Talking to the MailOnline about the results, sex therapist Dr. Ian Kerner, who was not involved in the study, explained why it’s important for couples to share the cleaning.

“What happens outside of the bedroom happens inside the bedroom. So if you feel resentful or like you’re doing an unfair share of chores, it doesn’t make you feel very sexual,” he said.
